Operation cavitating ultrasonic
How do our USAF™ cavitating ultrasonic transmitters work?
Our cavitating ultrasound transmitters are constantly sending on a high frequency sound into the water, this creates cavitation. Cavitation is the formation of gas bubbles between water molecules, these get bigger and bigger due to the persistent sound, eventually the gas bubbles unstable and implode. The resulting 2,000-bar pressure waves travel through the water at a speed of 1,250 metres per second. Microorganisms are no match for these pressure waves; the cell wall/membrane cracks and die on the spot.
Because the transmitters are in the water itself, 'the path' to the pathogen is also the shortest and therefore most effective. Our technology uses water as a medium to straight to the issues go to. Sounds logical, makes sense!
The transmitters can throughout the water chain be placed. Both in the basins, silos and drains. It also improves the use of any existing equipment, such as UV, ozone, ultrafiltration, by supporting it with already treated water. Update November 2025
After more than 4 years of working with the USAF™ DT-100 transmitters, the results exceed our expectations. Our total production increased by 16% on average, thanks to its combination of H₂O₂ and nano bubbles. Even more impressive is that our H₂O₂ consumption decreased by more than 50% since we started doing this. That means savings of 0.10 - 0.15 $ per m2 per year. This year, 2025, we have a Impressive production of 35+ kg per m2.
The root quality is exceptional, as you can see in the picture below, and we have been using be able to completely eliminate synthetic agents, because we have not had any problem with pathogens. This turnaround has made our cost per m² reduced by more than 40-50%. The R.O.I. was less than six months, which is surprisingly short, especially compared to other investments.
For every grower, it is adopt this system an absolute no-brainer, if you ask us. It streamlines irrigation, increases performance and simply makes growing easier. DNA sequencing tests of the same water samples showed extremely high levels of Fusarium and Pythium to, so we therefore know for 100% that this transmitters are very effective in eliminating all pathogens in our water (see diagram below).

We have been doing business with Ultramins and Robert for about 3 years now. Being very skeptical in the beginning we only started treating our pond of 2.200m2.
Our pond is a natural pond, so has no liner, therefor the water here has a lot of ‘clay dust’ making it very cloudy. This was an issue for us as we couldn’t have our cloudy water being treated by an UV-system, this simply will not work. All algae where eliminated in a relative short period, in about 3 weeks.

So, after seeing good results in the pond by using 2 USAF™ DT 100 watt transmitters, we decided to also treat our 2 silo’s with ultrasonic transmitters and we don’t regret this decision one bit. We placed 1 transmitter in our leach tank to make sure biofilm doesn’t grow and we placed 5 units in our stock water tank + adding H2O2 . This stock water tank is being filled with treated pond and leach water. Both silos are 400m3.

Our annual usage of H2O2 has dropped by 20-25% and the water is constantly of good quality, without any maintenance or monitoring. Our stock tank fills up in the night, the water gets treated during the whole night combined with H2O2 and the next day this water goes to the plants. We can honestly say we have not one issue in our irrigation water since, it’s probably hard to believe for people who haven’t used this system before, as it was for me. This system saves me a lot of time, as you know the water is always of good quality. System was easy to put in place, without having to make any changes to our irrigation system, so far I have not seen any negative side to its use.

As a chicory grower with an eye on sustainability and the future, I got in touch with Ultramins. I was curious whether they could also help me with their transmitters to control/prevent phytoftora, a common problem in chicory growing. At the moment, I still use Pergado as an additive to the water which in itself is adequate, but in time I want to minimise or stop using it. Also, legislation may be tightened further, so I thought it would be wise to look at an alternative now.
On the advice of Ultramins, we placed a USAF ST60 transmitter in the basin near the tow cell, which is about 2m3 in size. For the first 3 weeks, we still used 50% per cent Pergado. At harvest, there were no traces of phytoftora on the roots, the water was also clean. In the next crop, we used the channel again for three weeks, but without adding Pergado. This was very exciting, as we would never normally do this, especially with a pull-cell filled to the brim. Because the first 'round' had gone well, we dared to do it anyway.
But again, the result was excellent!
So the USAF™ transmitter certainly did its job without us having to worry about it. So it can be a very good and especially sustainable alternative to other means. That makes me feel good as a grower!
Finally, I would like to note that I really like the cooperation and thinking of Ultramins.
We are proud to be the largest tomato grower in Finland and are continuously innovating our cultivation process. One of our focal points is creating clean and sustainable irrigation water. Due to large amounts of algae in our basins, we had many problems with clogged filters. A problem that continuously costs a lot of time and therefore money to solve.

The reason for The Master Growers to install a cavitating transmitter, initially the pressure of floating algae in the basin water. However, analysis showed that the 1,000 m³ water supply also an exceptionally high presence of Pythium contained.
Because the water in the silo averages a residence time of seven days has, with only one cavitating transmitter already a reduction of 98% in Pythium concentration were achieved, likewise no live Erwinia was found. This result exceeded this grower's expectations.
Placing a second transmitter would in all likelihood have resulted in a almost complete elimination of Pythium, with expected LSU values of 0 to <10. For the customer, however, the 98% reduction achieved was already convincing enough to speak of a successful intervention.

"After placing the USAF™ ultrasonic transmitters in our basins, silos and day stocks, we noticed significant differences. The first 2 weeks there was a little more pollution because the transmitters were cleaning up the algae and biofilm. Within 4 weeks, we could see that the water was much clearer and the biofilm and algae had disappeared. I walk past the silos from time to time to hear and check if everything is still working and that is really the only work we have on it. After installing the USAF™ ultrasonic transmitters, our water has greatly improved, it is much cleaner and also clearer. Cucumber fur virus pressure is negligible compared to previous years, only a few plants we removed this year. Once you have the virus, it is difficult to get rid of it completely. We had a lot of algae problems in 2 of our pools, after Ultramins visited us, we decided to purchase the USAF™ ultrasonic transmitters.
On both basins we had a deck sill but still there was way too much algae. So when we installed the ultrasonic transmitters, we immediately decided to remove the cover sails from the basins, obviously we found this exciting, but Ultramins promised us it would be fine.
After a few months, we are very convinced that the transmitters are working and we no longer have any nuisance from algae, although there is still some filamentous algae present but this was there from the beginning and we were also advised to remove it, only we have not yet found the time to do so. So at the moment we are very happy with our clean pool.
We have been growing our hot peppers for many years and also, of course, use rainwater from our basin for this and had a lot of problems with algae here.

Our neighbours had been using Ultramins's USAF transmitters for some time and saw positive results from using them. That made us curious too, but we were still holding back because we don't take any chances. Ultramins approached us, as co-owners of Gietwater Berlikum where we and three other horticulturists use a 13,500m2 basin, to also equip it with the transmitters.
This was therefore decided and additionally we ordered for our own company at that time. Initially only for the rainwater basins, but after the transmitters were delivered, we also placed a number of them in the daily supply silo. We work with a low dose of hydrogen peroxide up to (10 ppm) which was unmeasurable for 2-3 weeks. Ultramins explained that this was because the transmitter combined with the H2O2 was breaking down the biofilm and this proved to be true. The quality of the pouring water now looks good and in terms of hydrogen peroxide, we are now measuring 5-10 ppm again. We are impressed with the results so far. We have therefore bought two more transmitters to make sure the basins are also ready for the algae season. For us, the transmitters also contribute to making the cultivation process more sustainable, which is also an important argument for us.
